It’s finally here: the day you have been dreaming of your whole life. THE BIG DAY. Your wedding day. Are you ready? We have a few helpful hints to ensure you look and feel your best from start to finish.
First, avoid the “wedding day bloat” by limiting foods and beverages that could cause bloating for at least 48-72 hours before your wedding day. Alcohol, carbonated beverages, and certain vegetables could definitely leave you feeling puffier than you want on your big day. Instead, stick with foods known to be anti-inflammatory, loaded with fiber, and decrease bloating such as watermelon, berries, lettuce, and certain teas. Want the full list?
Okay here we go:
– AVOID: beans & legumes, sodas & carbonated beverages, sugar alcohols, fast food, frozen & boxed meals, FODMAPS (fermentable oligo-,di, & monosaccharides & polyols), & wheat)
– EAT INSTEAD: watermelon, lettuce, strawberries, bananas, cucumbers, fennel tea, ginger, avocado, green tea, kombucha, spinach, peppermint, lemons, limes, zucchini, cayenne pepper, oranges, raspberries, grapefruit, asparagus, turmeric, papaya, chia seeds, coconut water, grapes, blueberries, pears, pho, yogurt, apples, eggplant, & pumpkin)
Second, be prepared for all of the wardrobe malfunctions that could happen. Your bag for the day should include safety pins, bobby pins, double-stick fashion tape, band-aids, and baby wipes (yes, baby wipes – insider secret: sensitive skin baby wipes will remove almost any stain from a bridal dress).
Finally, keep your dress far away from all things hair, makeup and perfume to avoid stains and marks. Do not put on your bridal gown until you are completely made up for your wedding, and ensure the final touch has been put on each hairstyle and the final spritz of perfume has landed before bringing out your bridal gown.
So for your wedding day, to ensure you have the best possible experience (and therefore the best photos ever), avoiding bloating foods, being prepared for wardrobe malfunctions, and saving the dress for last.
